Bio

Dr. Tahmasian is a board-certified physician who specializes in Sports Medicine, non-surgical orthopedic and sports injuries. He completed his medical education at St. George’s University School of Medicine. Afterwards, he completed his Family Medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, followed by a yearlong fellowship in Primary Sports Medicine at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.

Throughout his training, he was the team physician for local high schools in greater Cleveland area and has experience at the NCAA level as assistant team physician for Case Western Reserve University and Kent State University. He also participated in assisting the team physicians of semi-professional and professional teams, namely AHL Cleveland Monsters Ice Hockey, Cleveland Ballet Company, and NFL Cleveland Browns Football team. He also engaged in research projects. He enjoys reading and staying up-to-date. He moved to New Jersey with his wife and son. He likes to go for long distance runs, walk his dog, travel, and practice martial arts.

Dr. Tahmasian treats various musculoskeletal conditions in children and adults. Given his involvement in sports, he also evaluates and treats concussions utilizing the latest tools and knowledge along with a team of dedicated therapists. He uses ultrasound imaging, not only as a diagnostic tool, but also as an interventional tool to guide therapeutic injections of joints/soft tissue with corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, Orthobiologics including PRP and Stem Cell injections. With these tools, Dr. Tahmasian offers non-surgical treatment options before surgical intervention.

Dr. Tahmasian takes a very hands-on approach by completing a thorough history and detailed physical exam. He focuses on his patients’ goals to return to their activities, whether it is taking a walk in their neighborhood or returning to play their favorite sport as soon as possible in the safest manner. With Dr. Tahmasian’s approach and non-surgical treatment options, he strives to give each patient the power to choose the best path forward to recovery.
