Dr. Andrew L. Nelson is a fellowship-trained Sports Medicine physician and board-certified Internal Medicine physician who specializes in non-surgical orthopedics, concussion management, sports performance, and training / exercise reviews. Dr. Nelson is also certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been treating concussions since 2001, and has been certified as an ImPACT consultant since 2018. Dr. Nelson treats a range of conditions including joint pain, strains and sprains, osteoarthritis, and musculoskeletal injuries. He also has experience in workers’ compensation.
Dr. Nelson completed his fellowship in Sports care at Toledo University in Ohio, and subsequently supported numerous educational institutions as a Sports Medicine physician. He covered Division I sports at Rutgers University in addition to supporting various high school sports teams. He currently works with the Plumsted and Manchester school districts. During his medical training, Dr. Nelson played college baseball, then rugby for 8 years. His current passions are golfing and spending time with his family. Dr. Nelson has treated patients of all ages in the Toms River and Freehold area for several years. His calm demeanor will surely put you at ease the moment you meet him.
