Bio
Dr. Chalnick is Fellowship trained in Adult Reconstruction and Sports Medicine. He became interested in a career as an orthopedic surgeon and specifically a joint replacement surgeon as a bioengineering major at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry’s New Jersey Medical School, graduating as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. After medical school, Dr. Chalnick completed his internship and residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. He then studied with world-renowned surgeons including Dr. John Insall, who is considered by many as the father of knee replacement surgery as well as Dr. W. Norman Scott, long-time team physician of the New York Knicks, at the Insall Scott Kelly instituted at Beth Israel North Hospital in Manhattan. He completed a yearlong fellowship in adult reconstruction and sports medicine and gained subspecialty training in knee and hip total joint replacement and revision surgery along with arthroscopic surgery primarily of the knee.
Presently Dr. Chalnick is the medical director of the joint replacement program at Monmouth Medical Center as well as the lead surgeon of the RWJBarnabus Health Care System Orthopaedic Integrated Leadership Group. He is a member of the academic committee of the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program at Monmouth Medical Center and a Clinical Assistant professor at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.
Dr. Chalnick performs minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery as well as revision joint replacement surgery. He is skilled in posterior as well as direct anterior hip replacement surgery. He also utilizes advanced MAKOplasty® robotically assisted technology when indicated.
