Bert Parcells, M.D., F.A.A.O.S.
Joint Replacement Surgeon
Bio
Dr. Parcells believes in treating each of his patients as an individual. Every painful hip and every painful knee is different, and thus require treatment tailored to the individual person.
Dr. Parcells is a board-certified and fellowship trained joint replacement surgeon. He attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate, was inducted into the national medical honors society when graduating from medical school, completed his orthopedic training at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and received advanced fellowship training in the prevention and treatment of arthritis, including joint arthroscopy and joint replacement surgery.
Hip and knee arthritis occurs when the cartilage wears out, resulting in pain. Whenever possible, Dr. Parcells offers treatment to eliminate the pain, preserve the remaining cartilage, and avoid larger surgery. However, if these treatments do not provide the desired pain relief, Dr. Parcells is trained in the Direct Anterior approach for hip replacement, as well as partial knee and total knee replacement. He is able to perform these procedures using the Mako robotic system as well as traditional methods. Dr. Parcells is also trained in complex revision joint replacement surgery.
Dr. Parcells enjoys camping, mountaineering, and spending time with his family. He is also committed to medical teaching and has written a textbook on Joint Replacement Surgery targeted for orthopedic surgeons in training (hipandkneebook.com).
