Bio
Dr. Sunil Thacker is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine. He is a graduate of UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, training at the level 1 Trauma Center, which included an appearance on TLC’s “Trauma Life in the ER.” He went on to earn his fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, in Philadelphia, PA, during which time he took care of numerous professional NFL, MLB, NHL, PGA and NBA athletes including members of the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Flyers, and Philadelphia Phillies, as well as collegiate athletes from the University of Delaware and Rowan University. His practice also focuses on joint preservation arthroplasty. In addition, Dr. Thacker is a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, where he helps to decide which articles are eligible for publication. Dr. Thacker is a former rugby and football player at a College level. When he’s not working or with his family, he enjoys recreational sports ranging from beach volleyball, baseball, snowboarding, and golf to martial arts and scuba diving.
Dr. Thacker shares his views on patient care… “I was always taught to consider the big picture when treating patients. It’s not always black and white, and the same injury in 2 different people, with 2 different sets of circumstances (family, job, desire to return to sports) may have 2 completely different treatments. When faced with a patient with a complex problem, I ask myself, ‘what would I do if it was my family?’”
