Paul R. Allegra

Bio

Dr. Allegra is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive surgery. He graduated magna cum laude from Bucknell University before earning his medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he was inducted into both the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and pursued advanced fellowship training in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. During his training, he contributed to the care of elite athletes, including members of the New York Jets, the Miami Marlins, and the University of Miami Hurricanes. Following his fellowship, Dr. Allegra practiced in Oklahoma City with INTEGRIS Health before returning home to Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Dr. Allegra has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at national conferences, including receiving the 2024 AOSSM Fellow Research Award for Basic Science and delivering a podium presentation at the 2024 AOSSM Annual Meeting for his biomechanical research on meniscal root repairs.

A Monmouth County native and third-generation orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Allegra is passionate about arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle, where minimally invasive approaches can achieve powerful results. He also specializes in shoulder replacement surgery, restoring function and relieving pain for patients with debilitating shoulder conditions. Committed to nonoperative care when appropriate, he values shared decision-making that empowers patients to take an active role in their recovery.
