Seaview Orthopaedics Partners with Operation Walk USA for Life-Changing Surgeries

Seaview Orthopaedics is proud to continue our collaboration with RWJBarnabas Health Monmouth Medical Center and Operation Walk USA to provide free joint replacement surgeries for uninsured individuals in need. This marks our second consecutive year participating in this incredible program, through which we have helped transform the lives of three patients and completed a total of four surgeries.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to helping patients regain mobility and return to a better quality of life. Operation Walk USA embodies this vision by offering life-changing care to individuals who otherwise could not afford it. This year, we are honored to support two inspiring patients on their journeys to recovery.

Meet Elizabeth: A New Beginning After a Decade of Pain

Elizabeth, a retired vice principal from Nigeria, endured debilitating knee pain for over a decade. Her condition left her knees severely bowlegged, forcing her to rely on a cane for mobility and limiting her ability to perform daily activities like walking unassisted, driving, or cooking for her family.

Elizabeth’s journey with us began with her daughter, who, after witnessing her mother’s pain for so many years, took matters into her own hands by applying to Operation Walk USA. With the additional support of her son, who accompanied her to every appointment, Elizabeth took the first steps toward reclaiming her life.

At the beginning of December, Elizabeth underwent a successful bilateral knee replacement surgery with Dr. David Chalnick, a Joint Replacement Surgeon at Seaview Orthopaedics and Director of the Joint Replacement Program at Monmouth Medical Center.

Today, Elizabeth is on the road to recovery and has begun physical therapy at one of Seaview Orthopaedics’ offices. Her determination, coupled with the support of her family and the expertise of her care team, has been truly inspiring. We’re honored to have been part of Elizabeth’s journey to reclaiming her mobility and independence.

Ganda’s Continued Journey: Completing the Transformation

We are also excited to welcome back Ganda, a patient from last year’s Operation Walk USA initiative. After undergoing a successful knee replacement surgery with Dr. Joel Fechisin, Gana is returning this year for her second knee replacement. Her remarkable progress and determination have inspired us all, and we are delighted to help her take the next step toward full mobility.

Once again, we are grateful to JAG Physical Therapy, who will provide Gana’s post-operative rehabilitation, and Zimmer Biomet, who generously donated the implants for both patients. Their support has been instrumental in making these life-changing surgeries possible.

At Seaview Orthopaedics, we believe mobility is essential to living life to the fullest. Through initiatives like Operation Walk USA, we are honored to bring hope and healing to those in need. Elizabeth and Gana’s stories remind us why we do what we do, and we look forward to celebrating their recovery and renewed independence.
