Back on His Feet: Jim’s Journey from Achilles Injury to Active Living

Meet Jim S., an active father and grandfather who loves nothing more than playing pickleball, tennis, basketball, and spending time at the gym. Whether he’s running around with his grandkids or playing a match with his daughter, Jim is always on the move. However, his active lifestyle came to a sudden halt when he sustained a painful Achilles tendon rupture during a game of pickleball. This injury effected his sleep, ability to play sports, and overall well-being.

Fortunately for Jim, he knew immediately who to call, as his wife was a previous patient of Seaview Orthopaedics. After meeting with Dr. Eric Beights of the Seaview Foot & Ankle Team, it was decided that surgery was the best path forward. At first, Jim was apprehensive as this was his first surgery, but he quickly found comfort in Dr. Beights’ thorough preparation and constant check-in before and after surgery. Jim felt at ease every step of the way.

Six months after surgery and with dedicated work in physical therapy, Jim is now back in the gym and enjoying time with his grandkids. Not only is Jim thrilled to be pain-free and active again, but his family is also relieved that he received the care and support he needed to return to the life he loves.
